Thread: quotGhostquot Orders displayed after Backtesting

The MT4 egy tester has a button chart which will display all of the entries/exits as arrows linked by trendlines, which is a wonderful feature.

The problem with this is that there are a lot of ghost orders exhibited, which absolutely dont belong there.
When I visually check the backtest entries/exits its completely confusing, since I cant understand which order is real and that isn't until I check that the order listing.

This cant be problem using the EA itself since I don't have any errors in the log except those that appear to be normal when the price data isn't 100% ideal:

21:55:02 TestGenerator: Aggressive data malfunction (volume limitation 63 at 2009.11.20 22:15 exceeded)
21:55:02 TestGenerator: unmatched data malfunction (high worth 1.6494 at 2009.11.20 22:15 isn't attained from the least timeframe, higher price 1.6484 mismatches)

    Anyway I get 90 % backtesting accuracy.

Also I tried various brokers, currencies, EA´s and even different computers where I installed Metatrader (latest version).
Regardless of what I try, there are constantly awakened orders on the screen (red circles).

When I put over these wrong orders, I get an order number that cant belong there.
By way of example, the first wrong order on the screenshot in the red circle is labeled with ordernumber #37, the correct order in the blue circle gets the ordernumber #16.
The actual order #37 was implemented 2 month later.

That is actually perplexing. Even though it´s clearly a major bug, I wasnt able to google anything. . Weird. .

Is it that you ever saved a chart template with the same title as the EA which you're testing? In this case it'll load the template with all items on it everytime an EA with that title is tested.

Indeed I had a tester.tpl set up, when I removed it, the ghosts had been gone

I didnt know that a template with the name of the EA loads automatically.
I just was aware of the tester.tpl that applies for all EAs.

    Thank you so much.

Yeah theres a couple of tricks to templates

when utilizing tester, mt4 checks for a template with same title as ea, if that doesnt exist. It looks for you called tester
if that doesnt exist, it loads its simple ol chart

using a live chart, it looks for a template called default
if thats not discovered it uses its standard

with offline charts, it looks for a template called offline
if that doesnt exist it looks for default
if thats not discovered it uses its standard

Almost right, but offline charts ignore default.tpl, they only work with offline.tpl
