I agree with you re the moving average, bu that indi always *has* to lag because of it's nature of'averaging'....the longer the period covered, the greater the lag.

Precisely....for example a candle isn't complete until the last moment of this period. So, a one hour (h1) candle won't be complete, and therefore won't be reliable until following the 59th second of the 59th second of the hour.

Oh my gosh, I'd no idea I would start this kind of intense argument. It appears this conversation is going on everywhere here in FF, so here are my final, departing thoughts on this topic:

    1) The market moves based on order flow -- if you may see it or not. It is always there.

Two ) You may see the order flow in your charts and exchange from it, but it's not as simple without verifiion, and that is why indiors are (usually) necessary.

    3) Most indiors ARE lagging, and price is often the best indior out there, but it alone isn't enough. Whether price is considered an indior and/or lagging is of no concern to me because of Point #4.

    4) Indiors provide the trader with all the necessary plogical and mental elements of trading (ie: that of confirmation), and therefore are far from useless. My favourite indior is stochastics and you would probably all argue it is lagging, but I do not care, since I have found a remarkable way to use it that functions nearly every single moment. It's not the tool you use, but how you use the appliion.

PS: I suggest if you or anybody still wants to have this battle, please join me over at my thread here, where it's most likely a more suitable point of dialog.
