commission vs. non-commission broker

A friend of mine said that he thinks in the event that you trade with a commission
broker that's high margin requirements, you will have a larger
chance of your account being pumped out quicker than trading using
a non-commission broker which has lower margin requirements.
Anyone have some input about this?
