Hi,
So that my university just got a trading floor. I received some futures tick data on the market, but for the life of me cannot make X tick charts. I have all of the tick data I need but just need to place it into chart form. I kno exell can do so but thats not adequate.
Surely ninja trader or another platfrom can create a chart from custum data.
If anybody how to do so please information.

Yes, ninja may do it - reformat the data to the required format - see assistance - you can use vbscript or excel vba to do so, select the instrument in instrument control, import (state yes to build 1-min chart data also), open chart.
Here is input format: (file name is ES 12-09.txt with this sample)

Ps my college got reuters 3000Xtra since the trading platform. Surprised that it does not have a tick chart capability

Ken how do I actually get into a chart after I import it?
Wow eventually got it... is there any way to reformat it other then manually...I should speed up the process I got 30 thousand data points..and thats only half a day
Time to learn Excel. Put this in G3 and copy it down to your last data row:
=YEAR(C3) MONTH(C3) DAY(C3) HOUR(C3) MINUTE(C3) SECOND(C3) ;1
...
This won't work (probably) for 1 digit months and days - there is a way to get around that but for today I shall leave this to you to discover.
Also, Excel is just good to get 65000 rows, with tick data you can transcend that very quickly. Time to learn VBA. (or vb script).
This looks like Dow futures : YM 12-09.txt
Import into Ninja, choose Yes construct 1-minute pubs, then open a chart.
