Thread: Low Draw Down Fractal System

  1. #1
This one was designed utilizing the free but very effective backtester Forex Strategy Builder. Here are the results over the past 18 years (since April 1989) net of disperse (2 pips) on the EUR/USD:

Number of pips gained: 7401 pips
    Maximum drawdown: 362 pips

    Rules are very easy:

    1. When up fractal appears, go long, depart at the end of the afternoon
    2. When down fractal appears, go brief, depart at the end of the afternoon

Need to come up with a halt loss.

Please be aware attached fairness curve, and supply comments. Let's improve this system.

Yes, I think the pros of the system is its simplicity and profitability, the disadvantages are not any stop loss. It needs to be developed.

The desktop is simply an XP regular desktop computer.

So from the screen shot at the attachment, I suppose you are using the 1 day time period. I set this up using just the fundamental Fractal indior that comes with interbankfx MT4. Is this the installation?

Also based on your principles, When up fractal appears, go long that you do it immediatly when the little fractal pops on the screen, you dont wait to make certain it stays or anything.

Based on some charts, you only trade after every 3-7 times approximatly.

    Is this all correct?

    Please let us know.

The term document indies a daily chart, nevertheless 7400 pips over a span of 18 years figures to 34 pips each month.

For prevent loss, one option is to use high or low of the fractal bar depending on whether you are going short or long.

Here is the men answer who produced this system:

    Ok. Let start one .

    1. I assume you're using the 1 day time period.

It is right. You can view this here:

    Market: EURUSD 1 Day
    Spread: 4 pips
    Swap Number: 1 pip

    2. I put this up using only the basic Fractal indior that comes with interbankfx MT4. Is this the appropriate installation?

    I think so.
There's more info about how FSB calculates fractals within this http://forum.forexsb.com/viewtopic.php?id=68.
Http://forum.forexsb.com/viewtopic.php?id=67 posting explains precisely the same egy too.

    3. Also based on your principles, When up fractal appears, proceed long

    Yes. It is accurate.
The entry is decided in the Opening point of the position slot just.
    There are no additional conditions.
We enter long or short every time once the price touches a fractal's bottom or top.

    4. You do it immediatly if the little fractal pops onto the screen, you dont wait to make sure it stays or anything.

Like I wrote before, FSB plots (calculates) a fractal when it's accomplished. It can't appear and vanish. It is of great significance for your back test whether we've got reliable information about the indiors' values when making a offer.

    Example:
    pub No 1 Highest price - 1.0010
    pub No 2 Highest price - 1.0020
pub No 3 Highest price - 1.0030 lt;-- the top of a fractal up
    pub No 4 Highest price - 1.0025
pub No 5 Highest price - 1.0015 lt;-- the current pub (not realized yet)

within this case MT plots a Fractal UP if the current highest price stays under 1.0030, but if the price advances above this level the fractal disappears.
This isn't reliable behaviour (According to me of course)
A fractal consists of minimal 5 accomplished bars. Before the end of pub No 5 we ARE NOT SURE about this fractal.
We must trade after the end of bar 5. In bar 6 we are 100% sure whether there's a fractal or that there is not.

To use this egy you need to point a fractal's top/bottom that's minimal at the third pub behind the current bar. Safety first!!! :--RRB-

    5. According to my charts, you only trade after every 3-7 days approximatly.

As we may see the instance we have 1 - 2 deals per week.

    Time in position: 13 percent

Yes, isn't that wonderful? With such low draw-down you are able to boost number of lots fast and fairly soon each pip is worth a thousand dollars.
