Thread: The Hodgepodge Trading System

  1. #1
3 Attachment(s) This Trading Method and EA was inspired by the work of BigE (R.I.P.), Emmanuel, tony-fx, wizlon32 and Abokwaik. It's a Hodgepodge of their systems, egies and viewpoints which were published in such Forums. Thank you to every one of you input into my Forex Journey.

I began this as a place for tony-fx's thread (https://forexintuitive.com/discussio...pivot-egy.html) but thought it would detract from the purity of his system consequently a separate thread would be more appropriate. The system essentially replaces tony-fx's Trend Filter (Ichimoku Cloud) using a Moving Average Cross on a Greater Timeframe. I have utilized the 5/8 EMA (Close) on the Daily Timeframe for trading over the H4 Charts. I have introduced the 5-SMA-Typical-Shift3 of BigE as the trigger for its Signal Candle. Echoing BigE here, the Ichimoku filter leaves on the table. The'semi-martingale' attribute has been maintained.

Edit: We are now utilizing the 5-EMA-Close-Shift 3 to the trigger line.

Disclaimer; I'm not a Programmer so while tips for improvement are welcome, updates will only be periodic - maybe once per month. Additionally, I don't have Data for comprehensive Backtesting at this moment.

    Due Wileypeyote.

The Inside Bar Filter was introduced to D1 Trading.

I did a range of back-tests with it using H4 Trading and the results were unsatisfactory; it filtered out more than 50 percent of potential entries, many of which were pretty good to I abandoned the idea.

Evidently, you've used it with some success so I will get another go at it! .

    Trade well.

91568 For the ones that have concerns about adding to a HP trade...
let's go through this trade collectively...
Hodgepodge opened a commerce about the H4 sometime while I was annoyed (#1 on chart) without changing the chart I opened up another chart using Hodgepodge No EA. I looked at Daily chart to see where the trade is currently sitting on the candle. . Still after NY GBPJPY on H4 dropped into the base of the H4 candle. Without changing the chart I put up another trade (#2 on chart). . All this is shown on the Daily chart (notice I've the 5 8 EMA and the 5 3 SMA about the chart, so that I can see in what regards the tendency is into the transactions.

Now we shall SOOH's (sit on our hands) and let the trade unfold... hopefully it goes the right way.

    Question

I've disabled the Hodgepodge EA about the H4 chart and changed into the Daily chart with that EA disabled... Why??
(Anyone aside from krismitt please reply )
    ************EDIT************
I am thinking the best way to trade these Pound crosses is to the Daily chart. Nevertheless has much risk on H4 charts.

    *****Outcomes *****
Woke up this afternoon and I believed I had been visiting the U.S. Housing bust out of years ago. .

I waited to get an uptick about the 15 minute chart and added number of all lots I had from the trade, to lower the pain, then shut all transactions.
Maybe next time things will go good.

I have it on from some preceding tests across 28 pairs. While I did detect some major transactions not being accepted, it appeared to filter out the ranging periods that occurs into Tokyo/London session.

I read the TMS thread which Big E started, and because he quit trading at a certain time of day because of ranging markets, I guessed it'd be a useful filter to keep the crap trades from beginning. But it still allows some transactions that happen for whatever motive, news, market makers, etc..

    Up to Now, so great!

Thanks, again, because of this system.

    Brilliant!!!!

I was actually considering including a Market Session Input for the exact same reason and to Close trades at end just like BigE failed, but I truly like your thinking here. I will certainly be giving it a go.

Here is the kind of learning I would really like to see happening in this thread. Iron sharpens iron! .

    Cheers.

91568 Same scenario as the GBPJPY trade I was expecting to follow along with the ECB had different thoughts.

GBPUSD, I am hanging onto for awhile and see if it could be recovered.

    Thanks!

It's just concept really, a theory that so far for the remainder of this week hasn't really panned out. Will screenshot tomorrowafter NFP.

I believe that your trading session thought would be a great improvement really. It would be wonderful to have several instances (possibly 3, with a true/false setting to turn them on or off) also, so that when there were news events coming out, I could place the EA to be around for a small window at the middle of the closed area of the day.

Not in any way a request, but I'd happily test it if it were executed!
