Virtual PC XP/2000/Win98SE is a reasonable solution, if you max out the ram don't wish to conduct backtests etc.. This permits any of those Windows charting packages to run.Originally Posted by ;
Otherwise try one of those java based platforms such as Oanda. Try googling.
My Oanda account runs on my Mac G4. But it is based and not installed on the machine.
What's your ibook's speed and memory?
Virtual PC will slow EVERYTHING down unless you've got one juicy iBook.
That means qoutes and order execution as well.
I understand many agents advoe it, but they are brokers. Take it prevent using unless you absolutely need to!
Stick with the Java's on Mac like I really do.
Oanda, MG, possibly a few others.
The ibook has 1.42 Ghz powerPC g4 and 256MB DDR SDRAM. Pardon me Dealers I'm new to Mac when you say it's Java established then I still do not have a notion. My question then is if I use the G4 ibook and get the stage from Oanda (can it be free for life just like Metatrader4?) Do jhave to do some configuring? However, is supportd on MT4 which runs only on windows. I know that there are many trading egies that can operate on a Mac if you could suggest one that I am able to learn I'll look it over. Thanks a lot!!!
The problem you may encounter is that in the event that you wish to conduct Metatrader specialists on a different platform, you'll want to loe a Mac program that will allow you to port the code. Offhand I don't know of any. While I like Mac's, in the trading world you'll find your always butting your head against a appliion wall.Originally Posted by ;
Maybe you have ever thought about just buying a cheap Windows box/laptop only for trading? You don't want anything highly spec'ed. A 700mhz Toshiba 14 should only set you back $150-300.
As for Oanda, yes it is free for lifetime, but somehow I think that it's charting abilities aren't exactly what your searching for. Either way, start a free demo account try it out.
Thank you for the input Beachie41! I will attempt to hunt around for the hardware that will suit my budget and needs. Hope I make at trading so I can find a Mac and a good Suppose im not wishful thinking?Originally Posted by ;
Regrettably, if you plan on trading on a Mac, you are pretty much confined to trading platforms utilizing Java such Oanda or Gain (forex.com). The transaction execution on the progr are fine, the principal issue is that their feature are good. The download and install apps are faster and much better than Java progr that are Web-based, but you'll need to get a PC for it! PCs are pretty inexpensive. Desktops are sold by Dell . You could have purchased 2 PCs to the price of your iBook that was overpriced. Look on the bright side, however, you may be unable to trade in your iBook, but it looks great.
Pip Daddy thanks for the suggestion! I'd rather have the volatility brighten my trading side though than have a great looking mac. lol!! As a rule of thumb how many computers do we will need to trade forex effectively?Originally Posted by ;
emphasise trading gaming perhaps not its forte. . .but running among the OS's ever. . .and Oanda platform is as quickly as standalone..don't know where you have your info for that snippet. .Originally Posted by ;
