Thread: Lets talk Iraqi Dinar

Let us take an objective look at Iraq's economy, and considerations of profiting from the Dinar.

    The Economy:

I recently saw on the BBC that Iraq has increased their stock market from 12 to 60 publicly traded companies in recent months. From a shrewd investing perspective, the risk to reward can be quite attractive. I am thinking of this from an investment (not trading) perspective, where a couple million Dinar today could be worth quite somewhat longer 10 to 15 years from now. The cheap price of Dinar make this intriguing.

    The Moral Consideration:

Is there anything wrong with buying a country's currency that is hosting a battleground, and going through chaos and hardship? Part of me think that buying Dinar does nothing except boost their economy.... It is only strengthened by That paying Dinar.

The other part of me thinks that I am capitalizing on a wounded puppy.... That I am feeding off the hardship of the others. It undeniable.

What do you guys think? A) Is it a fantastic investment? B) Is it unethical to perform the Dinar?

I'd love to hear all points of view.

I don#8217;t believe you should have any quarrels over buying into this emerging market. Your money is not going to impact the results of any struggles in the future or now, no matter how much profit you make off of it. The possible out come to investors in Iraq will be more individuals Though I don't believe any investment we could make would impact it to the level.

There's another thread here in the Trading Room regarding the Dinar. I didn't bump it because this thread has a bit different slant. Just mentioning it because there were a few good answers on the other thread as well.

I am just sitting here wondering what's so wrong with all the standard FX pairs we already have.

Everything presents excellent r/r over and over again in variable constellations; is everybody so bored with all the established, high liquidity, low spread, readily available, tradeable, secured pairs already?

    Again..just wondering...(my eternal inner Why?)

    The other thread is at

where as B stated discussion also already took place.

im from lebanon and while im in florida most of the time, my brother always keeps me informed of whatever he hears. I cant really tell u much but discussions are that matters will improve over time and the dinar will come back to where it had been years ago. Im sure u knew that already but yea if ur in the west or have somebody there u tend to learn some fascinating items.
Their gov only gave us two mil $ for taking good care of their refugees.
Oil production is rising with record profits
talks that 2008 is going to be a year unlike other. Not sure if theyr talkin deaths or economic boom lol
but yea I believe it has potential
if not well. After all we should use cash we can afford to lose.

    Ethical concerns?!? :amazed

when you've got ethical concerns about a commerce then you probably have a crapload of other biases. My advice (not that anyone asked LOL) is get rid of those biases ASAP, they are able to do major harm to the PL.
