Thread: LMAX and Fastbrokers

I have posted before about LMAX along with my view that this could be an excellent exchange if they got their act together and provided their users with a proper interface which took advantage of the USP.

Anyhow, it seems some of their management has changed and even though they still have their very own crap port, they are also available on Fastbroker's Pathfinder multiplatform software. This has a beautiful DOM interface which I adore and if they dont currently have many programmers producing goodies with their API, for all you coders out there, you have a fantastic chance to get in on a pretty broad open market if you would like to.

The caveat however is that, although they supply you with the usage of Pathfinder for free, the commission of $3.09 per contract each end means the advantages are blown from the window from the high cost.

Due to the simplicity of setting trades, things like spreads are basically meaningless (but if you would like to exchange at market all the time, the spreads are likely lower than anywhere) but the $6.18 round trip per contract is, in my estimation, a high price to pay.

Why on earth Betfair didnt only open their equivalent for FX, stocks and commodities and give an interface like Gruss or BetAngel, and take 5% comm, I will never know. Sounds to me some people just can't see the wood for the trees.

You ought to be'learning' FX using calcs like this. No shame in making mistakes... so long as you're learning from them and making a point not to repeat them.

Oh, I realise I'm learning all of the time but this was a dumb mistake of mine and very unlike me. Onwards and upwards. I also managed to earn a nice trade on the GBP CPI now too
And I'm warming to the Pathfinder interface. There aren't more programmers.

And what's wrong with Multicharts anyways? It is totally free with LMAX.

Not free. You have to exchange 250 contracts per month its $60 per month

There is no free lunch... if you want more, you will pay... one way or another.

I understand, I just feel that 250 contracts shouldnt be much of a difficulty as daytrader if you already obtained gt;$2500 for a account with fastbrokers.

I had been fond of shooting a peek at their api, but the method to get hold of it's too cumbersome (e.g. needing to ask them, fill out paperwork and what not - additional brokers publish their api specs free for download).
