Thread: Bank of America...

...I'm curious if you can trade directly through Bank of America since they're a Currenex Prime Broker just as Citigroup has citifx expert does BOA provide anything like this. I've looked but can't find anything. This would be similar to Fortis as well. Anyone have any input or understand anything about it? I will make some phone calls tomorrow and see when I could find more info if I do not receive any info here. Thanks.

BOA does not have a retail platform. They do have an institutional platform and bandwidth feed. They're also giving liquidity to retail customers through numerous FCM's, currenex, bloomberg, fxall, RTFX, hotspot, lava, and many others. But you can not go to BOA and trade straight without a few mio. You'll not have any real benefit by trading with them right unless you're going to place like at least 20M together because you won't receive their very best spreads because you'll be very little in their eyes. If you wanted to enter options, swaps, forwards and some other derivatives then going together will make sense but nevertheless 2-5M will be the least they'd think about.

Dbfx and citipro are crappy goods designed to capture the retail customer but they offer nothing new or better. And to be honest I dont think Fortis has anything to get the retail customer directly either but you can receive their liquidity through Currenex, bloomberg, fxall, 360, RTFX and many others.

Hope this helps. Also, you may make some calls maybe some things have changed.

Interesting. Let me know what you find out there. I've got an account with them.

Seeing as BofA would be a prime broker, it creates senese to me that you'd need major capital to be regarded as anything substantial in their own eyes. Some of the better handled funds use them as a broker, then again you need a minimum of $15mio to open an account with such individuals too...
