Thread: Trading Money Management Journal (Experimental Basis)

This will be the place I record down several cash management methods that I use to my trading account. I've a functioning trading platform (which will not be a part of the discussion here) and also the reason I am interested in getting this diary would be to see which money management functions best with my current trading egy.

Just for the sake of completeness of the experiment, I scalp.

For example, I read that Divergence (another poster in FF) transactions and withdraws frequently together with his account balance will return to $5000 (if I recall it correctly). Other traders, on the other hand, have this 1 percent or couple of% per trade practice (which I found it disturbingly annoying and not practical). Another huge majority decide it by risk to reward ratio.

While I do use stop losses, I really don't determine my losses from the dimensions of my account. What I am trying to experiment is this:-

that I will begin by trading my normal lots. After I manage to pocket some pips, I shall then raise /double my lot for the upcoming transactions but on the strict condition that when the stop losses struck, I shall still maintain profit or break even.

    By way of example,

    1st commerce:I've pocketed 20pips, earning nett profit of $2,000.
2nd commerce: I've then identify it requires that a prevent loss of 5 pips, I'll set my stop loss at $1,500, leaving me with $500 if SL ever struck.
3rd exchange (if 2nd exchange TP hit): $2,000 $6,000 (TP 20pips). I'll have $8,000 of profit from today. So I will again recognize the SL I want and boost my lots for next commerce.
3rd exchange (if 2nd exchange SL hit): $500. Trade normally until particular threshold is accomplished.

    4th, 5th....rinse and repeat.

But as I've said before, this is only because of my experimental and record functions. No TE will be connected as I'm not here to instruct anybody or share anything. Thus, don't expect to know every post.

    Let's see how it rolls.

    another 5.5pips

    Complete: 63.7pips.

Lots used today x 3 normal lot (awarded the bonded pips yesterday). Could have been winners if not for the GER30 to strike my SL before surging upwards.

Was a little busy yesterday but here's the update to yesterday and today:

    27th September 2017

Yesterday wasn't a fantastic day as I ended up in losses. - 11pips. Price action was a little dull and not to my liking.

    28th September 2017

Today though is way better than yesterday.
    Total 77.5pips.

    The Finding So Far:
The benefit is extremely good. I had been up to 50 percent by 2nd day but of course given the growth in lot, the third day losses also resulted in a decrease of 10% in profit.
Nevertheless, in my estimation, to certain degree, it is really stress free given that the double/triple lot were only implemented after a certain level of profit was achieved. To put it differently, even if the trades were hit with stop loss, I will still ended up in profit by the end of the day.

However, when trading with this kind of money management, you can't employ mind SL because any sudden surge will wipe out a lot of your profit out as your lot is double/triple from your regular lot. Hence, a way is to always put in a SL.

That does not indie that there is no issue anymore because as you can see yesterday many of my trades hit SL prior to proceeding the path I trade for (aka Stop Loss Hunting).

I'm still looking for the best balance between putting in MIND STOPLOSS or STOPLOSS.

Anyway, DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME... what's still in experimental stage.

Have been really busy recently but here is the update.

I have opened a new ctrader account and connected it into myfxbook for better record functions in the event I have days where I do not have free time to record down.

For virtually any avoie of doubt, it's a real account:-

The currency management seems to be functioning as I hope it is that is to yield greater profit than my customary trading style.

    Yesterday (2/10/2017):
    8.67%

    Now (3/10/2017):
    8.82%

Despite the gain of lots after successful trades, the drawdown so far is only 8% which is a lot lower than what I expect when I first came across this idea. Will continue this experiment for a foreseeable future until it is secure and safe I will trade it in another most important trading account.
