Thread: Universal MA Cross EA by Firedave

    Hi all...

After loading history data that I found from http://www.forextester.com/data/datasources.htmlinto M1,M5,M15,M30, H1 and H4. I did another test with same sets with this EA predicated on Every Bit...

As the nature of this test of every Thick interior MT4 (which some folks claims are the most accurate), it is going to create the Thick predicated on the very least timeframe data available. In this case is the M1.
Know that the EA reveal a deadly failure to perform well from the backtest procedure.

Surprisingly... I was also starting to forward evaluation on my demo account this morning (my time zone GMT 7 ) along with the EA perform seems doing pretty nicely....

For the mean time... I place this EA in M5 TF simply to assess whether it is going to open and shut deal as it supposed to. And it did. It earn me 10 pips in M5 Tf (TP:10/SL:30, same places ). This EA work just like the logic behind trading with MA Strategy.

Now I realize that this EA is not encouraged to work with M1 time period. As it suffers from too many false signal Considering that the trades which calculated with M1 as established TF in negative, will emerge in background data.
And after deleting the M1 and M5 history data and re-run the evaluation based on M15 and preceding data. As it supposed to the evaluation begin to emerge.

This simple fact leaves me to some forecast that M15 is the very least TF we must use with this EA in order to filter poor deals, while H1 and H4 is the TF in which this EA will perform well as in MA egy established trading concept.

Will perform additional forward evaluation with the same SETS with H1 timeframe. It is going to take a while. .
Will come back to you shortly...

Yes, I feel this system have a potential to withstand time since it was made dependent on MA Cross Strategy that time already proved it to be easy and profitable.

Currently I have running this EA on forward test on FXOpen MT4, it opened and shut down 5 deals today. Earn me about 75 demo pips ( Four winner 1 failure ). I have FXpro demo and also This EA suffer the exact same problem. Can Try it with Alpari UK and watch...

I'm no coder or programmer so I can not assist you further. I hope someone will come along in the future to assist us with this issue...

    Okay.. .Sharing Time.

I have tried to Think of the most profitable setting for GBPUSD.

    My backtesting strategy:
-All evaluation and optimizing done in Alpari MT4 based on 90% modeling caliber
-equipping with 1st Quarter of 2010 information (the most recent one)
    - backtest with all quarter of 2009, 1st quarter of 2010 and 2009-2010 simultaneously in FX Open MT4 (not working in Alpari).
-Optimizing applied for MA Combination, TP/SL Combination and Trailing stop.
    - Starting number with just USD 500, lotsize 0.1

    Here it go:

The earlier said that this setting working best for 1st quarter of 2010:

    - MA1 = 24, MA=36
    - TP/SL = 100/80
    - Trailing stop = 40 for aggresive trading, 20 for Medium risk and 10 for conservative (the safest)

    Other remain as defaultoption.

(I dont have the collections evaluation document. I forgot to spare if starting to optimize this EA for another pair. )

    Here is the result:

    Using Trailing prevent = 20

    1# 2 of 2009

    2Quarter of 2009

    3Quarter of 2009

    1Quarter of 2010

    2009-2010 (Jan 2009 - Apr 2010)

    Trailing Stop =40 (Agressive)

Impact said: above 70% of trading would be Profits, Typical Profit = 40, Highest reward(around USD 3000)

    Trailing Stop =20 (Medium risk)

Impact explained: Above 80% of trading would be Profits. Typical profts = 20, Medium Reward (Around USD 2000)

    Trailing Stop = 10 (Conservative)

Impact said; Above 90 percent of trading would be profits. Average profits = 10, Smallest reward (around USD 1000)

it's fascinating for me to study how monitoring stops works in this EA. I could say this monitoring stops is really.
Allow say if we set to 10 pips (Conservative), the end result gave me moderate 10 pips as profits, nearly no losing commerce (about 97% transactions had been profits), but very rarely I see that the transaction will yield the true TP (100 pips). But please notice that the chart also shows that the equity would suffers negative with 10. Smoother chart for 20. And again will begin to endure more negative once I set this number . Well, I guess we have to make a pick on this based on our trading fashion. For me, since I'm more concern with downside than making profit so I opt for 20.

Well that is what the past said for this EA.

I also put a forward test that setting for Cable last night after US Open. It yield USD 100 profits at the morning. If this EA can perform more achievement in per 13, I will see.

Note: Watchout for Trading time parameter. I have bad result when a transactions opened in choppy market.

Still couldn't make this EA work in five digits broker (FXPro, Alpari).

It functioned really, but not transactions. Receiving trading sign. Need help from a person with programming and code skills here.
